The 2010 Kinetic Grand Championship starts at the Arcata Plaza when the traditional noon siren blasts. The Kinetic sculptures circle the plaza two or three times, then head for the beach to complete the first of the three days challenge of pavement, sand, mud, and water. 42 miles later, the survivors will cross the finish line in Ferndale.

RULE #1
It is mandatory that all Sculpture Pilots, Pit Crew, Officials, Spectators, Law Enforcers, Communicators, Volunteers, Merchants, and even innocent bystanders put great effort into having great fun for it is such Craziness as this that keeps us all Sane! If you insist on being a grumpy racer and not having fun, you may declare "diplomatic immunity" (since you are surely from another planet) and not be cited by overly excited officials for that infraction, but we reserve the right to adjudicate any such declaration.

The Lost Coast Brewery Hookah 'N' Ladder safety check by the "Rampmeister" is one of my favorite photos. Not only is it a good shot of the Hookah 'N' Ladder, but shows a great reaction shot of Rampmeister with a good crowd background.
