Cockpit view of the restored Curtiss P-40N-5 at the Pacific Coast Air Museum's "Wings Over Wine Country" Airshow 2008. The PCAM is located at the Charles M. Schultz-Sonoma County Airport in Northern California. The airfield has a rich history from WW II as a U.S. Army Air Force pilot training base for P-38 Lightnings and the P-39 Cobra and Navy pilot training for both WW II and the Korean War. The PCAM has a wide variety of aircraft restored and in the restoration process.
Sometimes you see odd objects flying around the aircraft. During a recent filming, the onboard cameras lens cap escaped from it's storage area. It appeared in 3 frames of the video while Barry rolled the jet. I froze a frame and had some fun with it. Barry grabbed the cap a few frames after this one.
This is a video frame from the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper West Flight Demonstration Team at the California Capital Airshow 2008.
I did a three day shoot with the team and edited a video that gives you the view as if you are flying in the back seat during the flight demo. This version is the first of two.
The second version will have many more camera angles, including the cockpit camera angle facing back looking at the pilot and the HUD (Heads Up Display).
Fly with Capt. Russ "Spicoli" Piggott, Viper West, during an "all out" airshow demo at the 2008 California Capital Airshow. The cockpit camera angle is as if you are riding in the back seat. Viper West is the U.S. Air Force F-16 West Coast Aerial Demonstration Team. The F-16 "Fighting Falcon" is commonly called the Viper by its pilots.
The Viper West Team, one of two F-16 demo teams in Air Combat Command, is attached to the 388th Fighter Wing, and is home based at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.
J. Michael Wigen wanted a show plane that was the combination of the nostalgic 30's era golden age racers with big radial engine sound but with a modern approach in design and power. He took his concept to renowned aircraft designer and builder Steve Wolf. The result was Cyclone. Cyclone has a carbon fiber airframe and power comes from a WWII era 550 hp Pratt & Whitney Radial engine. This light weight airframe, high horsepower, and J. Michael Wigen's aerobatic talent results in a spectacular display of aerobatics.
