Worldwide Warbirds / Flying in the L-39

The Worldwide Warbirds, Inc. are based out of Chino, California and import the L-39 for customers. The aircraft are completely torn down to inspect, then each and every part is refurbished to factory new condition. The finish of the components, interior and exterior painting, and custom cockpit treatments result in the aircraft looking more like an expensive sports car. Customers can order just about anything for the look of the interior and exterior. Most noted was Gold, Chrome, leather, and carpeting treatments that add the extra touch to the already beautiful aircraft. This a fun jet to fly and economical in the maintenance and actual cost per flight hour.
The L-39 Albatross is an advanced jet trainer for the purpose of transitioning pilots to the front line fighters. The Czechoslovakian designed L-39 was built as the successor to their earlier trainer, the L-29 Delfin. The L-39 was designed in 1966, and the first prototype made its maiden flight on 4 November, 1968. With over 4,000,000 military flight hours, and flying for air forces of over 30 countries, the L-39 is the most successful and reliable jet trainer of it's era.
Four major variations of the L-39 were produced:
- L-39C Aircraft for basic and advanced jet training
- L-39V Single-seat aircraft for target towing
- L-39ZO Training aircraft with extended weapon practice capabilities-four underwing hardpoints
- L-39ZA Training and multipurpose light attack aircraft with under fuselage gun pod and four underwing hardpoints.
