Wayne Handley's Turbo-Raven is the culmination of his dream to have an aerobatic plane that could out perform anything in the world. The one-type-design Turbo-Raven boasts a 750 HP Pratt & Whitney PT6A-25C turbine engine coupled to a Hartzell 3 blade composite propeller. The propeller produced 2,800 pounds of thrust for the 1,600 pound Turbo-Raven.

The result is like riding a rocket! Wayne now had the fastest climbing propeller driven airplane in the world. In 1999, Wayne flew the Turbo-Raven to two new World Records. On January 20, 1999, Wayne rocketed the Turbo Raven from brake release to 3,000 meters (9,842.5 feet) in one minute and nine seconds. Later that year, at the Airventure 99 at Oshkosh, WI., Wayne shattered the time-to-climb record to 6,000 meters with a time of three minutes and six seconds. This footage was shot at the Moffett Field Airshow 1999 and represents the entire airshow performance. Included are close-up shots of Wayne and the Turbo-Raven prior to performing.
