Bill Reesman's "MiG Magic" was one of the most popular airshow acts in the mid to late '90s. The MiG-15 was re-designed to be supersonic by extending the fuselage four feet, adding an afterburner, and sweeping the wings back ten more degrees to forty-five degrees. The result was the MiG-17 capable of Mach 1.2 or 714 mph. The MiG-17 was also a much more stable aircraft and capable of tighter turning in air-to-air combat. Bill had a lot of respect for the MiG-17 when he flew the F-100 for 320 missions in Vietnam.
The MiG Magic airshow was spectacular with the wing mounted Sanders Smoke Generators and the afterburner's fire blazing twenty feet behind the MiG-17F. At Night, the sky was ablaze from the immense amount of pyrotechnics Bill hung from the wings. With a thousand feet of fire trailing from the pyro and the afterburner's long orange flames, the night show was something to behold.
